Faial Island or Fayal (2024) is an island of the Azores archipelago in Portugal. The Azores islands are located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean between Europe and the Americas. The Capelinhos Volcano and is the westernmost point of Europe. The island has a population of 15,000 of which 50 percent live in the capital Horta.
