Filmed in the heart of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, this short video captures the raw, majestic beauty of Portugal’s highest mountain range. We based ourselves in Penhas da Saúde, a peaceful mountain village, and from there explored some of the most iconic and serene places in the region. From the quiet charm of Capela de Santo António da Argenteira to the breathtaking views at Miradouro do Sanatório, every stop was a blend of nature, history, and wonder.
We hiked to Covão dos Conchos, the mysterious lake with a surreal man-made spillway that looks like a portal in the water — a must-see for anyone visiting the area. Along the way, we visited Lagoa Comprida and Covão do Boi, stood beneath the stone-carved figure of Nossa Senhora da Boa Estrela, reached the summit at Torre da Serra da Estrela, and soaked in the beauty of Poço do Inferno and the mountain village of Manteigas.
With incredible food at Varanda da Estrela and Casa do Clube back in Penhas da Saúde, the experience was complete — the perfect balance between adventure, peace, and hearty mountain hospitality. Serra da Estrela is more than a destination; it’s a place to breathe deeply, walk slowly, and feel the rhythm of the earth.
