MAC/CCB — Museu de Arte Contemporânea
Lisbon’s museum of contemporary art at the Belém Cultural Centre, home to the Berardo Collection.

At the Belém Cultural Centre, beside the Jerónimos Monastery, the MAC/CCB brings modern and contemporary art to one of Lisbon’s most visited quarters. Its galleries hold the Berardo Collection, one of the most important private collections of modern and contemporary art in Europe, shown alongside a programme of temporary exhibitions.
A collection in Belém
The museum opened at the Belém Cultural Centre (CCB) in 2007 and has since become a reference for contemporary art in Portugal, integrating the Berardo Collection into a public museum. Its displays move between the great movements of the twentieth century and the work of artists of our own time, both Portuguese and international.
What to see
- Modern and contemporary art from the Berardo Collection, from the early twentieth century to the present.
- Works by leading international artists alongside Portuguese names.
- A changing programme of temporary exhibitions.
- The wider Belém Cultural Centre, with its architecture, gardens and other cultural spaces.
Visiting the museum
The museum is at Praça do Império, Belém, Lisbon, a short walk from the Jerónimos Monastery and the river. Opening hours and tickets are published on the official website, so check before your visit.
