The wine tradition is rooted in this territory that produces the most noble wines made from traditional and high quality grape varieties, Baga and Touriga Nacional in reds, or Bical, Maria Gomes, Arinto and Cercial in white wines.

The cool, humid climate and strong maritime influence provides grapes with low alcohol content and high acidity, which are excellent for the production of sparkling wines, where they have been assuming greater relevance, where the Bairrada region holds the title with the best sparkling wine. in the 2019 Portugal wine contest.

On this bike tour we invite guests to cycle through the vineyards of Rota da Bairrada, an area known as the Portuguese capital of sparkling wines. After pickup of participants in Coimbra, by van with bikes, we head to Curia, where we will visit the Rota da Bairrada headquarters. Then, we start the guided bike tour, on a route of intermediate difficulty, circular route with 52 kilometers, mixed route between secondary or dirt roads surrounding some wine estates, knowing this vast territory in a different and exclusive way, where you will have direct contact with the “terroir”, the grapes and the producers.

We will take a first break to the north to visit one of the traditional wineries including a wine and sparkling wine tasting. After visiting, we will continue by bike to the restaurant to taste the typical dish of the region, Leitão Assado à Bairrada. After lunch, we will continue the trip to the other winery to once again visit and taste wines and sparkling wines. After visiting and tasting we head to the car where, after packing the bikes in the car, we return to the starting point in Coimbra
