The little barrels and the wafers shaped like shells and fish carry a recipe born in the convents of Aveiro, kept by the house for generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">History and character<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ovos moles were created by the nuns of Aveiro&#8217;s convents \u2014 above all those of the Convento de Jesus \u2014 and passed to the confectioners when the religious houses closed. In 1856 the Peixinho house opened in the town centre, and it has kept the trail of that tradition ever since, making the sweets by the original methods of the recipe it helped to preserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to discover<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ovos moles in their wafer shells \u2014 fish, shells and little barrels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The other sweets of the house, including the crisp raivas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The shop&#8217;s historic interior, in a street of the old centre.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The canals and Art Nouveau streets of Aveiro around it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visiting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shop is in the centre of Aveiro, near the main canal, reached on foot from the city&#8217;s squares.
