Meeting point at the Tourist Office in PDL, or the possibility of pick-up within a 15km radius from Ponta Delgada

The tour begins at the Azores Volcanological and Geothermal Observatory, for a better understanding of the island’s origins.
Ascent to Pico da Barrosa, next to which Lagoa do Fogo is located, set in the crater of an ancient volcano and part of a protected landscape area. Visit to Caldeira Velha, with lush vegetation and various volcanic phenomena still active.

Panoramic view of one of the Geothermal Power Stations, which harness the earth’s natural heat to produce electricity. In the city of Ribeira Grande, a stop in the historic centre, with a beautiful baroque ensemble of houses and churches, which use volcanic basalt in their decoration.
