The municipality of Alandroal bases its historical wealth on its location; known as the “Sentinela do Guadiana”, thanks to its privileged view over the lands of the neighbouring country, it was of vital importance throughout the successive wars with the Kingdom of Castile.

In the remote tranquillity of the municipality’s main town, let yourself be enveloped by the harmonious calm of the Alentejo and, around its beautiful Castle, both inside and outside the walls, discover a set of outstanding architectural features, such as the Casa Nobre dos Fidalgos Pimenteis, the Igreja da Misericórdia, the pillory, the Igreja Matriz de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, the Paços do Concelho and, of course, its monumental Fonte das Bicas, a confluence of waters that once had excellent thermal properties, where all local life comes together.
