A traditional form of polyphonic singing from the Alentejo region, performed by a group with powerful vocal harmonies and no instruments. The songs address themes of rural life, work and love, in a call-and-response style. It was recognised by UNESCO in 2014 as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
