Description

The city of Guimarães is referred as cradle city of Portugal due to the fact that it was the place the first king of Portugal was born. The city where its historic town centre is classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Known for its Castle, the Duke´s Palace and its historic town centre and much more.

The city of Braga is known as being the oldest Christian city in Portugal founded in the Roman times as Bracara Augusta. City with over 2000 years old of history with full of culture and traditions where history and religion lives side by side in a harmony with the technology industry and university life.

Program:

Braga

  • Visit the historical city centre and to Sé de Braga (cathedral), the first Portuguese cathedral, erected several decades before the founding of the country.
  • Visit to Santuary of Bom Jesus do Monte, the Sanctuary surrounded by a magnificent landscape. The stairway leading to the top contains 17 landings adorned with symbolic fountains, allegoric statues and other Baroque style decoration.

Guimarães

  • Visit the Castle of Guimarães, the castle´s presence evokes the exciting mixture of legend, poetry and heroism that surrounds the beginning of Portuguese history.
  • Visit Paço dos Duques, majestic manor house of the fifteenth century, palace of vast dimensions, with architectural features of fortified house, strong strands covers and numerous cylindrical chimneys that show the influence of the stately architecture of northern Europe, it is a unique example in the Iberian Peninsula.
  • Visit the historical city centre of Guimarães.
