About this experience

Observe Birds All Year Round!

Duration

1.5 Hours

About

It is possible to watch birds in the EVOA lagoons all year round

Some birds are resident and can be observed all year round. But the vast majority of the birds we receive are migratory.

Between November and February we receive large numbers of birds coming from Northern Europe. At this time, you can observe thousands of birds of various species, in flight or at rest on our lagoons.

In the months of March/April and August to October, the migratory passages of various species bring daily surprises to our lagoons, with peaks of diversity sometimes occurring. However, at these times bird densities are not constant.

In the months of May and June we receive birds coming from the African continent; some species nest on the islands in the lagoons, making it possible to observe the young of various species of ducks and waders. However, it is not usual to see large flocks of birds; the individuals are more dispersed and try to go unnoticed.

What to bring

Footwear

Comfortable for walking
Closed to prevent the entry of sediment, plants, insects and arachnids
Waterproof, only if rain is forecast (the paths remain dry all year round)
Already worn before, so that it is adapted to your foot

Clothing

Comfortable and suited to the forecast weather conditions
We recommend trousers to minimise any discomfort from vegetation that may be along the way
If it is sunny, we recommend a hat and that you protect yourself with long-sleeved clothing and/or sun cream
If rain is forecast, we advise a waterproof jacket or, alternatively, an umbrella
We do not recommend white and bright colours (e.g. orange, yellow, fluorescent), as they attract the attention of the birds and also of the insects;
Pastel tones may be a good option.

Other items

Binoculars (at EVOA we lend binoculars, but if you have your own this will be a good opportunity to use them)
Camera
Pencil/pen if you want to record the species you observe

In the warmer months, we also recommend:
Water
Sun cream
Antihistamine, in case of allergy to hay, pollen or other
Repellent (insects and arachnids)
