1-Hour Boat Trip Escaroupim

We begin our cruise in the avieiro fishing village of Escaroupim (Salvaterra de Magos), with its stilt houses, the fishermen’s boats and the Casa Museu dos Avieiros. We continue our journey towards the village of Palhota (Cartaxo), the village where Alves Redol lived and wrote the book “Os Avieiros”, and head towards Ilha dos Cavalos and Ilha dos Amores. We glimpse the village of Valada do Ribatejo (Cartaxo), which seen from a distance is a carpet of little white houses, where we make out the church, the marina, the boats… and in the background the Ponte Rainha D. Amélia. On the way back to Escaroupim, we find Ilha das Garças, a nesting site for various birds such as great egrets, little egrets, cattle egrets, glossy ibises, spoonbills, night herons, buzzards, among others.
