Faial Island is one of the nine volcanic islands of the Azores, a Portuguese archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean. Located in the Central Group, the island has an area of 173 km² and a population of about 15,000 inhabitants.

The island was colonized in the 15th century and has a rich cultural heritage, including churches, forts, and museums.

Faial is an active volcanic island, and it is possible to visit the Caldeira, a volcanic crater with a 2 km diameter. Additionally, the island offers several hiking trails with breathtaking landscapes.

The experience we offer provides a variety of horseback riding tours for experienced riders, from half-day trails to full-day rides through the mountains and northern coast.

Choose the perfect tour for you

Half-Day Trails:

  • Morning: Explore the surroundings of the meeting point for 3 hours, enjoying the stunning landscapes.
  • Afternoon: Enjoy a 3-hour ride through the region, with views of the sea and mountains.

Full-Day Rides:

  • Northern Coast: Choose a 5-hour adventure through the beautiful mountains and northern coast of the island. Enjoy a picnic with sandwiches, fruits, juice, water, and granola bars.

Requirements for riders

  • Maximum weight: 95 kg
  • Minimum age: 14 years old
  • Experience level: medium to experienced riders
  • All paces: walk, trot, canter

This horseback experience includes

  • Introduction to the horses, the ride, and how to mount
