Cycling Carmelita Route by Paths of Fátima

À propos

The Carmelite Route is one of the Paths of Fátima, which belongs to the “Paths of Faith” located in the center of Portugal, between Coimbra and the Sanctuary of Fátima.

It is a thematic itinerary inspired by the life and work of Sister Lúcia, one of the three child sheperds of Fatima, who in 1947 entered the Carmel of Santa Teresa and lived here until her death in 2005.

Meeting with the participants at 8:30 am at our Meeting-point in front of the Hotel Astória, in downtown Coimbra. By car we will go to the beginning of the route, at Penedo da Saudade in Carmelo de Santa Teresa, next to the memorial of Sister Lúcia.

Already by bicycle, the first stage begins with 50 kilometers. Leaving the Mondego River and the city murmur of the student city, you soon reach the rural landscape of remote villages of modest people.

Overnight at hotel and dinner.

The second stage, on the following day, has a distance of 62 kilometers crossing many footpaths and secondary roads where nature is beautiful and life is peaceful.

Upon arrival in Fátima, we will transfer to the starting point in Coimbra.
