Douro Wine Tour: Flavours, History and Landscapes in the Heart of the Douro Valley

We start our tour in Porto and head to the charming town of Amarante, where you can visit the Convent and Church of São Gonçalo, as well as the iconic bridge that crosses the Tâmega River. For those interested in art, we suggest a visit to the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Municipal Museum, which pays tribute to one of the greatest Portuguese modernist painters. We continue to the city of Régua, stopping first at the Mesão Frio viewpoint to enjoy a spectacular view over the Douro. In Régua, we visit the Casa do Douro and its colourful stained-glass windows, which illustrate the traditional transport of Port wine on rabelo boats along the river. We then go on to Pinhão, considered one of the most picturesque villages in the Douro Valley. There, we visit the famous Pinhão Railway Station, decorated with azulejo panels depicting the grape harvest and life in the Douro.
The day ends with a Port wine tasting at a local quinta, where you can learn more about the production process, the different wine styles and the cultural importance of this nectar. A perfect end to a memorable journey through the world of Port wine.
