These trails adhere to international standards that ensure safety for hikers while promoting environmental preservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-new-trails-in-terceira-and-sao-jorge\">New trails in Terceira and S\u00e3o Jorge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the recent approvals, two new trails stand out on <a href=\"https:\/\/realdreams.pt\/fr\/localite\/terceira-island\/\">\u00cele de Terceira <\/a>and one on <a href=\"https:\/\/realdreams.pt\/fr\/attractions-to-visit\/regions-of-portugal\/azores-region\/sao-jorge-island\/\">S\u00e3o Jorge<\/a>. On Terceira, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pt.wikiloc.com\/trilhas-trekking\/lagoa-do-cerro-194503917\">Lagoa do Cerro Trail<\/a><\/strong>, stretching 5.5 km, will offer a unique experience in a wetland area of high ecological interest, ideal for birdwatching, both local and migratory species. Meanwhile, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/trails.visitazores.com\/pt-pt\/trilhos-dos-acores\/terceira\/baias-da-agualva\">Ribeiras\/Matas da Agualva Trail<\/a><\/strong>, approximately 8 km long, will provide an immersive journey through the region&#8217;s history and culture, passing by traditional water management structures such as mills and washhouses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On S\u00e3o Jorge Island, the <strong>Grut\u00f5es Trail<\/strong>, covering 6.5 km, has been approved. This route will take hikers to the iconic &#8220;Grut\u00f5es&#8221; site and pass through the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/trails.visitazores.com\/pt-pt\/trilhos-dos-acores\/sao-jorge\/faja-de-sao-joao-lourais-faja-dos-vimes\">Faj\u00e3 de S\u00e3o Jo\u00e3o<\/a><\/strong>, offering an authentic experience for seasoned trekkers. The trail follows the historic paths used by local communities in search of milder climates during winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-implementation-and-promotion-of-the-new-trails\">Implementation and promotion of the new trails<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new trails are expected to be completed by the beginning of next year. The Regional Directorate of Tourism will be responsible for signage, installing information panels, and promoting the routes through the Azores Tourism Portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Berta Cabral, emphasized that this expansion aligns with the Azores Tourism Strategic and Marketing Plan (PEMTA 2030). &#8220;These developments enhance the destination\u2019s quality by expanding and diversifying the region\u2019s hiking trails,&#8221; she stated. She also highlighted that the <a href=\"https:\/\/realdreams.pt\/fr\/regioes_turisticas_term\/azores\/\">A\u00e7ores <\/a>have been named the &#8220;World\u2019s Best Adventure Tourism Destination&#8221; for two consecutive years, and the new trails contribute to reinforcing this status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hiking trails are among the archipelago&#8217;s main tourist attractions, offering an authentic experience that blends nature, culture, and history.
