Museu de Angra do Heroísmo
A regional museum in a former Franciscan convent in Angra do Heroísmo, covering the history of the Azores and the Atlantic.

The Museu de Angra do Heroismo occupies the former Convento de Sao Francisco in the heart of Angra, the UNESCO-listed capital of Terceira. As one of the Azores’ regional museums, it brings together the history of the islands and their place in the Atlantic world.
A regional museum in a convent
Installed in the seventeenth- and eighteenth-century convent buildings, the museum is part of the regional museum network of the Azores. Its collections and displays trace the settlement of the islands, the strategic role of Angra as a port on the routes between Europe and the Americas, and the everyday life of the archipelago.
