Strategically located on a hill overlooking the Nab\u00e3o River, the castle was commissioned by Gualdim Pais, master of the Order of the Templars, to protect the region from Moorish attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fortification stands out for its blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, also symbolizing the Templar influence in the country.
