파루 시립미술관

Faro’s municipal museum occupies the Convento de Nossa Senhora da Assunção, a sixteenth-century convent in the old town. Its collections range from Roman archaeology to painting and sacred art, offering a broad introduction to the history of the Algarve and its capital.

From convent to museum

The museum was installed in the former convent, whose cloisters and chapter rooms give the collection a quiet, historic setting. Its archaeological holdings include finds from the Roman city of Ossonoba, on which Faro stands, while the art collections reflect the wealth of the Algarve’s churches and religious houses.
