Halfway up the climb, at a viewpoint, the quads stop. And the silence lingers. You cannot hear the engine cooling, nor any echo descending the valley. Only the wind in the trees and, with luck, a partridge taking flight. This is why we do this route in an electric vehicle. The Laurissilva is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and deserves to be heard.
