Seen from inside, with the light falling through the opening, it is one of the most photographed places in Portugal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The cave<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cave lies at the foot of the cliffs next to Praia de Benagil, a small beach of the municipality of Lagoa. The sea opened its two entrances in the limestone of the coast, and the roof collapsed in part, leaving the round opening \u2014 the eye of the cave \u2014 that lights the sandy floor inside. The cliffs and caves around it, including the famous rock arch of Praia da Marinha, share the same geological history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\ubcfc\uac70\ub9ac<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The dome and the natural skylight above the beach inside the cave.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The entrance by sea, with the colours of the cliffs around it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The coastline between Benagil, Marinha and Carvoeiro.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The beaches of the Lagoa coast, at the foot of the cliffs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visiting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cave can only be reached by sea \u2014 by boat, kayak or paddle \u2014 from the beach of Benagil and the inlets around it, and only in calm conditions; the sea inside the cave and along this coast can be dangerous, and visitors should follow the instructions of the licensed operators and the local authorities.
