Museu Francisco de Lacerda
A museum in Calheta on the island of São Jorge, devoted to the composer Francisco de Lacerda and to the life of the island.

On the island of São Jorge, the Museu Francisco de Lacerda takes its name from the composer and conductor born in Calheta in 1869. Its collections combine the memory of his musical career with the ethnography and history of the island, in one of the regional museums of the Azores.
A composer and his island
Francisco de Lacerda was a musician of international standing, working in Paris and Lisbon, and his legacy is preserved here alongside objects that document daily life on São Jorge: farming, fishing, crafts and the traditions of the island’s villages. The museum is part of the regional network of Azorean museums.
