Fátima, Batalha & Nazaré, full-day from Coimbra
Religious Cultural Historic Surf Big Waves

On this tour we will visit the most popular places southwest of Coimbra. We will visit the Sanctuary of Fátima, the UNESCO heritage sites of the Monasteries of Batalha and the picturesque fishing village of Nazaré.
The Sanctuary of Fátima is, par excellence, a place of Christian pilgrimage and Catholic devotion, preserving the memory of the events that led to its foundation, namely the apparitions of Our Lady of Fátima to the three shepherd children, to Lúcia, Francisco and Jacinta in 1917. We will go to Aljustrel, to the so-called Aldeia de Valinhos, the place where the little shepherds lived and in the Sanctuary we will visit the Basilicas of Nossa Senhora do Rosário and Santíssima Trindade, the most recent one, and the Capelinha das Apparições where, with a little luck, you will have the opportunity to attend a mass.
We continue to Batalha to visit the Monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória, better known as Monastery of Batalha. Imposing, it stands out for its monumentality and the stone tracery on the outside, marks that make it easily identifiable. It consists of a church, two cloisters and two royal pantheons, the Founder’s Chapel and the Imperfect Chapels.
Once the visit is complete, we move on towards the sea, to the village of Nazaré where we will begin our visits at the Santuário, Sítio, northern beach to view the waves and end in the labyrinthine and narrow streets of the village.
At a time to be agreed, we will return to the starting point, Coimbra.
