Van Tour • Pico Tour • Half Day

Discover in a morning or an afternoon the main themes of the island. This tour brings together a little bit of everything: nature and geological heritage, vine culture and whaling culture. An introduction to the essence of Pico that is ideal for those visiting the island on a short break for the first time.

We will pick you up in Madalena in our van for a comfortable 3.5-hour journey to discover the beauty and enormous diversity of the island.

The first stop will be in Criação Velha to admire the typical vineyard landscapes of Pico. Admirable is not only the unique landscape of stone walls, but also the history behind it.

We then head to the plateau at the foot of the great volcano with fantastic views. Lagoa do Capitão is one of the best-known photographic spots, with the majestic Pico mountain in the background.

Back to the coast, this time on the north side of the island, we will visit the old whaling factory in São Roque do Pico. An opportunity to go back in time and relive the tradition of whale hunting, which shaped the Azores archipelago and the islanders’ relationship with the giants of the sea.

We will return to Madalena along the north coast with its small cellars and lava fields.
