Stairway to Heaven Hike – Madeira

This sunrise hike begins early in the morning at Pico do Arieiro, one of Madeira’s highest peaks, allowing you to experience the mountains as the day begins.

From here, the hike follows a well-known mountain path towards the Stairway to Heaven. The walking section takes approximately 45 minutes each way and includes steps, ascents, and descents through striking high-altitude scenery.

While the distance is relatively short, the terrain and exposure mean this hike is best suited to confident walkers.

Conditions can change quickly at altitude, and the guide may adapt the route if necessary.
After completing the hike, the group stops for a relaxed breakfast at a local café, offering a chance to warm up and reflect on the morning experience.
