Museu do Pão
A museum of bread in Seia, telling the story of Portuguese bread from wheat to table.

In the bread country of the Serra da Estrela, the Museu do Pão in Seia tells the story of the loaf — from the wheat in the field to the bread on the table. Part museum, part working bakery, it is one of the most original museums of central Portugal, in the town below the mountain.
History and character
The museum was created in Seia as a home for the traditions of Portuguese bread, gathering tools, ovens and the memories of the rural world around it. Its collections move through the cycle of the cereal year — sowing, harvest, threshing and baking — and celebrate the regional breads of every corner of the country, from the broa of the mountains to the sweet loaves of the south.
