Faial Island Drone Aerial 4K | Azores, Portugal

Wyspa Faial, zwana też Fayal (2024), to wyspa archipelagu Azorów w Portugalii. Wyspy Azorów leżą w środkowej części Oceanu Atlantyckiego, między Europą a obu Amerykami. Wulkan Capelinhos jest najbardziej wysuniętym na zachód punktem Europy. Wyspa liczy 15 000 mieszkańców, z czego 50 procent mieszka w stolicy — Hortzie.

Located in the heart of the Atlantic Ocean, Faial Island (also known as Fayal) is one of the nine stunning islands that make up the Azores Archipelago of Portugal. Often referred to as the “Blue Island” due to the abundance of hydrangeas that bloom across its lush landscapes in summer, Faial offers a captivating blend of natural beauty, maritime tradition, and volcanic power.

Half of the population resides in the charming capital Horta, a vibrant port city known worldwide among sailors for its marina — a historic stopover point for transatlantic yachts. The marina walls are painted with murals left by visiting crews, creating a colorful open-air gallery by the sea.

One of the island’s most iconic landmarks is the Capelinhos Volcano, formed by a dramatic eruption in 1957–58. Today, this lunar-like landscape tells the story of earth’s raw power and is home to a fascinating interpretation center. Geographically, Capelinhos marks the westernmost point of Europe, where the continent meets the vast Atlantic.

Faial is also a paradise for hikers, divers, whale watchers, and anyone looking to experience the wild, untamed side of nature. From the lush crater of Caldeira do Faial to the black sand beaches and coastal trails, the island offers unforgettable experiences in every direction.
