Mafra National Palace UNESCO | Mafra, Portugal (4K drone video)

Mafra leży niedaleko Lizbony w Portugalii. Mafra liczy około 80 000 mieszkańców. Miasto słynie z Pałacu Narodowego, wpisanego na listę światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO. Pałac to prawdopodobnie najlepszy przykład architektury barokowej w Portugalii.

Mafra is home to one of Portugal’s most magnificent monuments: the Palácio Nacional. A majestic symbol of royal ambition, baroque grandeur, and cultural heritage.

Located just 30 kilometers from Lisbon, the town of Mafra is best known for the awe-inspiring Palácio Nacional de Mafra — a monumental baroque masterpiece and one of the most important architectural achievements in Portugal. Commissioned in the 18th century by King João V, the palace was intended to fulfill a vow made in exchange for the birth of an heir, but it soon grew into a vast complex that symbolized the wealth and power of the Portuguese empire.

The palace includes over 1,200 rooms, a royal basilica with six monumental organs, two bell towers, and an extraordinary 18th-century library housing more than 36,000 rare books. It also features royal apartments, an infirmary, a convent, and formal gardens. The scale and artistic detail of the building are truly breathtaking.

Surrounding the palace is the Tapada Nacional de Mafra, a vast royal hunting ground turned natural park, perfect for nature walks, wildlife spotting, and eco-activities.

A visit to Mafra is a journey into Portugal’s royal and religious past, where art, architecture, and history come together in majestic harmony.
