Terceira Island, the second most inhabited island in the Azores, located to the east of the five islands that make up the archipelago’s Central Group. Its coastline on the western side of the island is the most linearised and marked by high, vertiginous cliffs that plunge abruptly into the deep ocean, here and there interrupted by rocks jutting out to sea, a testament to the thick, more recent lava flows.<\/p>\n
