Weapons, uniforms, documents and models illustrate centuries of military engineering and the town&#8217;s role in Portugal&#8217;s wars with Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A fortified border town<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fortifications of Elvas, including the enormous Forte da Gra\u00e7a and the aqueduct of Amoreira, are listed by UNESCO as World Heritage.
