Located just north of Lisbon, Torres Vedras is a vibrant town with deep historical roots and a strong connection to Portugal’s defensive past. The town played a strategic role during the Peninsular Wars, most notably through the Lines of Torres Vedras, a complex network of fortifications that helped protect Lisbon from Napoleonic invasions.

At the top of the town stands the Castle of Torres Vedras, a medieval fortress originally built by the Moors and later expanded and restored over the centuries. Its elevated position offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and the urban center below. Visitors can explore the castle walls, towers, and gardens, soaking in both the peaceful atmosphere and the historical significance of the site.

Beyond the castle, Torres Vedras is known for its excellent Vinhos, vibrant carnival, and rich cultural traditions. Whether you’re strolling through the old town, visiting local museums, or simply enjoying a glass of wine with a view, Torres Vedras offers a welcoming and authentic experience full of heritage and local pride.
