Feira do Queijo da Serra da Estrela
The great fair of Serra da Estrela cheese, held each year in Celorico da Beira.

Each year, the town of Celorico da Beira celebrates the most famous cheese of Portugal. At the Feira do Queijo da Serra da Estrela, the producers of the mountains bring their cheeses to the town — the creamy queijo da Serra, protected as a regional product — in a festival of the flavours and traditions of the highlands.
History and traditions
The Serra da Estrela cheese, made from the milk of the mountain sheep, has been made in these highlands for centuries, and the fair grew as its great annual showcase, gathering producers, shepherds and lovers of the cheese in Celorico da Beira. Around it, the region keeps the pastoral traditions that shaped the landscape of the serra.
