According to the plan released, the Lisbon City Council intends to drastically limit parking locations and the number of licenses issued for tuk-tuks. The new regulations will require all tuk-tuks to obtain a specific license to operate in the city and ensure that drivers receive adequate professional training. The goal is to reduce the number of vehicles authorized to park in Lisbon from 1,000 to 500, while 250 parking spaces will be created exclusively for licensed tuk-tuks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The municipality is determined to enforce a \u201czero tolerance\u201d policy in the areas most affected by the uncontrolled presence of these vehicles, which have sparked complaints due to their negative impact on high-density tourist areas. Carlos Moedas emphasized that it is imperative to impose strict order on this activity, which has caused significant problems for the city. Enforcement will be intensified with the collaboration of the Municipal Police, PSP (Public Security Police), and EMEL (Lisbon Mobility and Parking Company).
