Parque Natural de Sintra-Cascais
A protected landscape of hills, forest and coast west of Lisbon, from Sintra’s mountains to the cliffs of Cascais.

West of Lisbon, the Parque Natural de Sintra-Cascais protects a landscape of granite hills, dense forest and wild Atlantic coast. From the wooded heights of Sintra to the cliffs at Cabo da Roca and the beaches of Cascais, it brings together some of the most varied scenery in the Lisbon region.
Hills, forest and coast
The park covers the Serra de Sintra and the coastline from Cascais to the mouth of the Tagus, with a mild Atlantic climate that supports a rich variety of plants. Its forests, gardens and cliffs have drawn visitors since the nineteenth century, and it includes the westernmost point of mainland Europe.
What to see and do
- Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe.
- Walking trails through the Serra de Sintra and along the coast.
- The beaches and cliffs between Cascais and Guincho.
