Itinerary

We start from Ponta Delgada towards Relva. The descent to Rocha da Relva is along a narrow path carved into the cliff. It is an easy track and presents no significant risk.

Not far along the trail you will come to a fork in the track, where you can turn left to visit Rocha do Cascalho first, before continuing the descent to Rocha da Relva. This is the only track leading to Rocha da Relva, located on a terrace of rockfall material (fajã), of which there are many on the island of São Jorge, but few on São Miguel.

Once on the fertile terrace, you will see many wine cellars, the result of the microclimate that is ideal for vines, fig trees and the production of fruit and vegetables. Walkers are asked not to pick fruit along the way.

The return is made by the same route.
