The boats that were once used to harvest moliço (a type of seaweed used as fertiliser in agriculture) are the famous Moliceiros; today, after their sails were replaced by engines, they are used to show visitors important landmarks in the city that you can afterwards explore on foot, such as the Art Nouveau Museum, the salt pans, the Beira Mar district and many others.

The Moliceiro Boat Trip is the most sought-after experience in Aveiro.

The sailor-guides who accompany tourists on the trip give their commentary in 4 languages: Portuguese, Spanish, English and French.
