Port Essentials (Gaia)

With more than 100 years of history, Poças is currently in the hands of the 4th generation, and is one of the rare Port Wine companies that was born Portuguese and remains in the hands of the same family since its foundation. Our old Tawny Port Wines built Poças’ reputation, but for 30 years now the DOC Douro wines have also proven their quality.

In 2019 Poças received the award for “Fortified Wine Producer of the Year 2018”, given by Revista de Vinhos.

The Poças Visitor Centre has been open to the public since 2016, and was fully renovated in 2018 – an innovative project signed by the architects Lúcia Vaz Pato and António Mota. Welcoming around 30,000 visitors a year, in 2018 the Visitor Centre was awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.
