Edelweiss launches direct flights from Zurich to Terceira Island in the Azores

The first direct flight landed on June 25 at the Lajes Civil Air Terminal on Terceira, marking a new chapter in air connectivity between Central Europe and this increasingly popular Atlantic destination.

Edelweiss Air has officially launched a new seasonal route connecting Zurich to Terceira Island, bringing the Azores even closer to Switzerland. The focus on connecting Zurich to Terceira highlights the potential for increased tourism and exploration.

The inaugural flight from Zurich to Terceira arrived with 141 passengers on board, achieving a load factor above 80%. Operated by an Airbus A320, which offers a total of 174 seats, the route reflects growing demand for more diverse and nature-rich destinations like the Azores archipelago. Edelweiss is committed to connecting Zurich to Terceira, providing convenient access to remarkable landscapes.

Weekly Flights Through Summer 2025

According to Edelweiss’s official website, the airline will operate weekly flights every Wednesday, continuing until September 10, 2025. This schedule gives travelers a convenient opportunity to experience Terceira’s breathtaking landscapes, volcanic wonders, and authentic Portuguese island culture, all just a few hours from Switzerland. The airlines are thrilled to offer weekly flights, further connecting Zurich to Terceira for eager travellers.
