Despite the wet March weather, Leiria’s beauty and history shone through, offering plenty to explore.
Our adventure begins at the stunning Leiria Castle, a medieval fortress with panoramic views of the city. From there, we discover so much more, including the fascinating Museu da Imagem em Movimento (Moving Image Museum), where we dive into the world of film and animation. The imposing Sé de Leiria (Leiria Cathedral) and the Leiria Belltower add to the city’s rich architectural heritage.
Strolling through the beautiful old town streets, we explore Rua Direita, a historic street filled with local shops and traditional charm. We also spend time in Praça Rodrigues Lobo, the city’s central square, and Largo 5 de Outubro, where history blends with daily life.
No visit to Leiria would be complete without indulging in the local cuisine, so we stopped for a delicious lunch at Adega dos Caçadores, a must-visit restaurant for authentic Portuguese dishes.
Leiria offers a fantastic, budget-friendly day out, and we’ve only scratched the surface. With so much more to see, we’ll definitely be back. Hope you enjoy exploring with us!
