活动简介
Practically the entire river route between Setúbal and Alcácer do Sal runs deep within the heart of the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve, one of the most spectacular protected areas
in our country, not only for its natural, largely unspoilt landscape, but also for all its remarkably rich heritage, from the natural, but
also the historical, archaeological, cultural, economic, and more.
Highlights of this route include passing by the Roman Ruins of Tróia, the Carrasqueira Channel, Cavalo Island (Herdade do Pinheiro), the stilted quay of Abul with an explanation of the
Phoenician trading post that once existed there (impossible to visit), passing salt pans and rice fields. The Sado Estuary Nature Reserve is one of the best places for birdwatching, so
we will provide binoculars for this purpose, accompanied by a guide.
The entire route will be accompanied by a guide who will explain the most relevant aspects of the trip and describe the different points of interest mentioned, developing
some themes such as those relating to traditional boats, salt, human settlement, natural heritage, birds, etc.
