Carnaval de Loulé
The Algarve’s great carnival, with parades of colour through the streets of Loulé.

At carnival time, Loulé fills with one of the oldest and liveliest celebrations of the Algarve. The corso of decorated floats, the samba groups and the masked revellers take over the streets of the town for days of colour, music and satire, drawing visitors from across the region.
History and traditions
The carnival of Loulé grew through the twentieth century into a reference of the Algarve’s carnival tradition, joining the town’s groups, associations and samba schools in an event made by the community. Each edition renews the satire of the floats and the costumes with the humour of the moment.
