Festa do Marisco

The great festival of seafood of the Algarve, held each year in Olhão.

The waterfront of Olhão and the Ria Formosa

Each year, Olhão celebrates the fish and seafood of the Ria Formosa at the Festa do Marisco. For days, the town by the ria gathers around its great festival of flavours — clams, oysters, fish and the food of the coast — with concerts and events that fill the evenings of the high summer.

History and traditions

The festival was born in the 1980s from the maritime life of Olhão, the town of fishermen and of the Ria Formosa’s shellfish — and grew into one of the great gastronomic festivals of southern Portugal. It remains a celebration of the work of the ria and of the flavours it gives.

Was Sie erwarten können

  • The shellfish and fish of the Ria Formosa, from the producers.
  • A great open-air table, with the flavours of the Algarve.
  • Music and events through the days of the festival.
