Estoril

Estoril has a rich history that dates back to Roman times when it was known as Estorilum.

The tourist infrastructure began to expand, especially with the inauguration of the train line connecting Estoril to Lisboa in 1889, facilitating access to the region.

In the early 20th century, Estoril became a meeting point for political exiles and members of the nobility, especially during World War II when many fugitives and royal families sought refuge in the city. The Casino Estoril, opened in 1931, solidified the city’s reputation as a destination for entertainment and glamour.

The city continued to develop in the following decades, maintaining its charm and elegance while adapting to contemporary needs. Today, Estoril is known for its beautiful beaches, nightlife, and cultural heritage, attracting visitors from around the world who wish to experience its history and beauty.
