As a territorial museum, the Douro Museum has a mission to represent the natural and cultural heritage of the Douro Demarcated Region, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site as a cultural, evolving and living landscape.

The Douro Museum’s head office is located in the town of Peso da Régua, the result of the rehabilitation of one of the most emblematic buildings in the history of the 18th-century Douro Demarcated Region, the Casa da Companhia, inaugurated on 20 December 2008. Combining tradition and modernity, it stands as a collective space of memory and identity for the wine-growing region, in constant dialogue with the present, and at the same time as an instrument for enhancing the activities associated with winegrowing, cultural tourism and wine tourism.

It comprises a central space – the Exhibition Area – where the permanent exhibition “Douro: Matéria e Espírito” is located.
Around this exhibition space are the «A Companhia» Restaurant, the Shop, the Information Centre (Archive and Library), the Reading Room, the Conservation and Restoration Centre, the Wine Bar and the Garden Terrace overlooking the Douro river. In the adjoining space there is another building of modern architecture clad in black schist panels, which houses the Education Service.
CRIVO – Centre for the Arts of Know-How has recently been created, a space for sharing knowledge where the region’s know-how is explored dynamically, covering ancestral and contemporary arts.
Opening Hours, Accessibility and Parking

Opening Hours
Summer (1 March to 31 October): Every day, 10:00 – 18:00.
Winter (1 November to 28 February): Every day, 10:00 – 17:30.

Admission up to 15 minutes before closing.
Closed: 25 December, 1 January, 1 May

Parking
Douro Museum Head Office building. Parking for cars (Max. 20) and minibuses (Max. 2 minibuses of 6, 8, 16 and 21 seats). Free but exclusively for visitors.
Large public car park within 100 metres of the Douro Museum. Parking for cars and a designated area for coach parking.
