Kayak Tour in Ria Formosa

Kayaking in Faro and Ria Formosa
Join Formosamar on a journey of discovery in one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Portugal — the Ria Formosa Natural Park.

This 2-hour kayak tour of Ria Formosa departs from Faro. From here, you will head into the calm waters of the lagoon for a leisurely paddle.

Conditions are almost always friendly, with only slight waves or no waves at all.

Navigating the placid channels, we head towards Ria Formosa’s famous islands, exploring the marshes, islets, and beaches along the way.

With clear waters, fine white sand, and a fascinating array of shells, the idyllic beaches are perfect for a well-deserved break.

Simply resting and enjoying the wonderful view is an absolute joy.

A guide or monitor accompanies your group on this Ria Formosa kayak tour.

Local and knowledgeable, your guide will enrich your experience with explanations about the heritage and richness of this natural park.

Along the way, we might have close encounters with birds like the Greater Flamingo (Phoenicopterus roseus), Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea), White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) as well as many species of fish, crabs, and sea hares that inhabit the shallow waters of this lagoon.

Kayaking in Faro is a fantastic experience worth sharing with your family and friends and one of the best ways to explore this unique region.

This tour is suitable for those who love the water and anyone without much kayaking experience. And, of course, it’s a great way to stay active on your holiday!

The kayaks we use on this tour are double sit-on-top models. They are safe, comfortable, and easy-glider models.
