About this experience
Duration: Between 5 and 6 Hours
Circular walking route of 12 km passing through the villages of Piódão, Chãs de Égua and Foz de Égua, as well as various places in the valleys of the Égua and Piódão streams.
The trails mostly follow the old paths linking the villages, passing countless stone bridges, retaining walls, cobbled tracks, haylofts, livestock pens and other structures – so participants can see for themselves that this really is the Land of Schist.
We call this region the Land at the End of the World, because the old access routes were very difficult, as was the way of life. Piódão lived isolated from the world for centuries.
Come and discover the most enchanting legends and stories of this sanctuary of Portuguese rural life, as well as the traditional architecture so characteristic of this region. Includes a visit to the Piódão Museum.
The ground is uneven in places. A reasonable level of physical fitness is advisable.
Recommended season: spring, summer and autumn. The gradients are moderate / steep.
Included
- Insurance,
- Entry to the Piódão Museum
- Guide
- Complimentary photographic report of the activity.
