Lisbon is Portugal’s capital and largest city. It lies on the mouth of the Tagus (Tejo) River and is known for its seven hills. Travel back in time and get to know the city with a ride on its classic Tram 28. Appreciate the colorful contrasts of houses covered in azulejo tiles. Itinerary • Pick up at Hotel/AirBnb at 9:00 am • Arrival to Belem • Visit Monastery of Jeronimos, inaugurated in 1495 by the rule of king Manuel I. Its architecture style is Portuguese Late Gothic Manueline and it is one of the best examples Lisbon has to offer. It was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. • Visit Belem Tower, is a tower that was built in the early 16th century. It was built as a fortress to protect the Portuguese territory in the Tagus river and served as a port from where Portuguese explorers departed. Nowadays it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. • Visit Padrào dos Descobrimentos, a monument located along the river Tagus. This monument celebrates the Portuguese Age of Discovery, when the ships departed to trade with the Orient during the 15th and 16th centuries. • Lunch at a portuguese restaurant where you will have the opportunity to taste a typical portuguese dish. • Discover Praça do Comércio, commonly known as Terreiro do Paço (Palace Yard) because it was the location of the Royal Palace. After the 1755 earthquake destroyed it, it was rebuilt as part of the Pombaline downtown. • End the day in the traditional neighborhood of Alfama, where you can experience the best views of the city while walking through beautiful streets surrounded of azulejos. • Drop-off at Hotel/AirBnB around 16-17:00 hrs.
