Ribatejo: Tradition, Flavours and Living Heritage

We begin our route towards Santarém, a city with remarkable historical and architectural heritage, known as the capital of the Gothic in Portugal. We will visit the Portas do Sol Garden, one of the most beautiful viewpoints over the Tagus, and the unique Torre das Cabaças, famous for its bell clock, a symbol of time and collective memory. From Santarém we continue to Almeirim, a typical town of the Ribatejo floodplain. Here, we suggest a lunch stop at a traditional restaurant, where you can taste the legendary Sopa da Pedra (Stone Soup), a dish that combines flavour, tradition and a good dose of folk history. An unmissable gastronomic experience. The afternoon takes us to Salvaterra de Magos, where we will visit the Royal Falconry, an internationally renowned venue, listed by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Here, you can learn about the ancient bond between humans and birds of prey, through a visit that combines history, nature and art. This tour is fully customisable. We can include other points of interest such as the town of Golegã, known for its equestrian tradition, or visits to local farms and wineries for a Ribatejo wine tasting.
