About this experience
One of the oldest European centers and proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, Porto is a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets, ancients houses and a lot of character. In Portuguese, the name of the city includes a definite article: o Porto (“the port”) which is where its former English name “Oporto” comes from. One of Portugal’s most famous exports, the Port wine, is named after the city, given that it was in this area were the packaging, transport, and export of fortifies wine was made.
On this three (3) hour walking tour in Porto you will have the opportunity to learn about the history of this city with a professional guide by your side. You will visit its famous cobbled streets and learn about the Arab and Roman influence. You will also learn about the Arab and Castilian invasions that Porto suffered, without forgetting about the French invasion. You will also visit its historic center declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, as well as the cathedral and its baroque churches.
You will have enough time to take many pictures through all the stops, without forgetting points of interest such as Avenida dos Aliados and the monument to King Pedro IV, as well as its striking Dom Luis I bridge, the emblematic iron bridge of Porto that was designed by a disciple of the French civil engineer Gustave Eiffel.
